Lekhny Story -26-May-2024

Name: Sree Varshini R Genre: Epic Poem Title: Stocism

In ages past, where wisdom shone in Greece, A noble path was charted, meant for peace. Through trials hard, in shadows cast by fate, The Stoic way was born, austere and great.

In Athens' heart, where marble statues stand, A man named Zeno taught with steady hand. From Citium he came, with vision bright, To kindle fires of virtue in the night.

"Seek not the pleasures fleeting," Zeno said, "For they will bind your soul and cloud your head. Embrace instead the logos, reason's might, A beacon in the storm, a guiding light."

With reason, courage, justice, temperance strong, The Stoics walked a path both pure and long. Their hearts were steeled against misfortune's blow, Accepting all that fate and time bestow.

In war-torn lands where empires rose and fell, Their steady gaze beheld life’s carousel. For what is life but ebb and flow of chance? A dance of fate, a ceaseless cosmic dance.

Great Seneca, amidst the Roman halls, Proclaimed the Stoic virtues through the walls. In letters to Lucilius, wise and clear, He spoke of death, of courage, and of fear.

“Ephemeral is life,” the sage declared, “Thus live it well, with virtue ever paired. For wealth and power are but transient gleam, The true gold lies in wisdom’s subtle beam.”

Epictetus, born a slave, yet free in mind, Taught that within, true liberty we find. “Control your thoughts, your actions too,” he cried, “And in adversity, with grace abide.”

From humble roots to Marcus’ lofty throne, The Stoic doctrine in his heart was sown. An emperor with duties far and wide, Yet in his journal, wisdom did reside.

"Remember, mortal," Marcus mused at night, "Thy days are numbered, fleeting is the light. In every breath, in every pulse you take, Pursue the good, for your own virtue’s sake."

Thus Stoics stood, unyielding as the stone, Their inner peace amidst the tempest known. To live in harmony with Nature’s plan, They taught to every soul, to every man.

Through centuries their legacy endured, A timeless balm for hearts by strife obscured. For in this life of chaos, pain, and loss, The Stoic path remains a steady cross.

To face the world with equanimity, To find within a calm divinity, Is Stoicism's gift, a priceless art, A way to fortify the human heart.

And so we heed the lessons from the past, To walk the Stoic path until the last. In virtues’ light, we navigate our days, With Stoic strength to guide us through the maze.

For what is life but trials to withstand? And what is peace but virtue close at hand? In every dawn, in every dusk’s embrace, The Stoic finds a calm and sacred place.
